How This Calculator Works

This tool calculates the equivalent tonnage of biomass pellets needed to replace your current coal usage, based on the calorific values (GCV) of both fuels. The formula is simple: Pellet Tons = Coal Tons × (Coal GCV / Pellet GCV).

Cost savings are calculated by comparing your annual coal expenditure against the equivalent pellet expenditure. CO2 savings use the standard factor of 2.4 tons of CO2 avoided per ton of coal replaced. Ash reduction assumes average Indian coal ash content of 35% vs biomass pellet ash content of 5%.
